Lutter Privacy Policy
1. Overview
Lutter is an iOS app that color-grades videos on your device. We designed Lutter to keep your data on your phone. We don't use accounts, we don't sync to a cloud, and we don't collect personally identifying information.
2. What stays on your device
- Your imported videos and the edits you make
- Your projects, color adjustments, and stabilization analysis cache
- Custom
.cubeLUT files you import
This data is stored locally via Apple's SwiftData and never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.
3. What we collect
a. Anonymous analytics (Firebase Analytics)
- App version, iOS version, device model
- Aggregate feature usage events (such as "editor opened" or "export started")
- Apple's anonymous IDFV (Identifier for Vendor), which resets when you uninstall
- We do not use IDFA. Lutter does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt because we do not track you across other apps or websites.
b. Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
- Stack traces and basic crash metadata
- App version, iOS version, device model
- Anonymous device identifier (IDFV)
c. Diagnostic reports — only when you opt in
If you tap Send diagnostics in Settings, or accept the crash follow-up prompt after a crash, Lutter sends:
- Recent in-app event breadcrumbs (file paths, project names, and any user-typed text are redacted as
<private>before sending) - App version, iOS version, device model, locale, timezone, and free disk space
- Last crash stack trace, if applicable
Diagnostic reports are sent over HTTPS to a relay we operate on Cloudflare Workers. They contain no name, email, account ID, or video content.
4. What we don't collect
- Your name, email address, phone number, or postal address
- IDFA (advertising identifier)
- Your location
- Your contacts, calendar, or full photo library contents
- Any data that personally identifies you
5. How videos are handled
Lutter uses Apple's PHPicker, a privacy-preserving picker that lets you select videos without granting Lutter access to your full photo library. We only see the videos you explicitly pick. All video processing — color grading, stabilization analysis, skin-tone correction, export — happens entirely on your device. Lutter never uploads your videos to any server.
6. Third-party services
- Firebase (Google) — analytics and crash reporting. See Google's privacy policy.
- Apple — In-App Purchase processing via StoreKit 2.
- Cloudflare — diagnostic relay (only when you tap Send diagnostics).
7. Children
Lutter is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used Lutter and you have concerns, please contact us.
8. Your rights
Because Lutter does not collect personal information that identifies you, there is generally nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. Local data on your device can be removed by deleting the app or by deleting projects from within the app. If you have any questions about your rights under GDPR, CCPA, or similar regulations, contact us at the address below.
9. Changes to this policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will update the Effective date above. Material changes will be announced inside the app on the next launch.
